A few years ago, our founders decided it was time to leave their careers as C-suite executives and set out to acquire their first small business together. After looking at hundreds of listings and contacting dozens of sellers they were shocked to find that the majority of businesses were represented by realtors who took days to respond and listings that undersold the unique value of each business. More concerning, most business brokers were grossly unaware of valuation multiples, methodologies, and market comps often leaving the seller with offers significantly undervaluing their legacy and business.
